Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant confirmed on Wednesday that Shubman Gill would bat at No. 4 in the Test series against England, while he would bat at the No. 5 slot. The No. 4 slot is waiting to be filled since the retirement of Virat Kohli. The team is yet to decide who will bat at No. 3.
Commenting on his equation with skipper Gill on and off the field, “I think we have a really good camaraderie off the field. If you're good friends off the field, it eventually comes on the field as well. We gel really well together.”
Pant said that though it feels good that Anderson and Broad would not be there, but England still have enough bowling ammunition. “We don’t want to take anyone lightly because our team is also young. But at the same time, we've got to respect the bowlers and opposition,” he said.
