Mohammed Siraj’s animated celebration after dismissing teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi during IPL 2026 was less about disrespect and more about the intense emotions and pressure that define elite T20 cricket.
The Gujarat Titans pacer erupted in celebration after removing the 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals batter, who had earlier struck him for a six off the very first ball he faced. The moment quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the match, with fans divided over Siraj’s aggressive send-off.
However, several former cricketers and experts believe the reaction simply reflected the fiercely competitive nature of the IPL, where even established international bowlers are constantly tested by fearless young talent.
Vaibhav has emerged as one of the standout stars of IPL 2026, with his fearless batting and remarkable consistency against some of the world’s best bowlers. His aggressive approach has forced senior bowlers onto the defensive, something not many teenagers have achieved in the tournament’s history.
Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar recently pointed out how the youngster is already influencing the mindset of opposition bowlers, saying Vaibhav is “getting into the minds of top bowlers” with his fearless approach and ability to dominate quality attacks.

That pressure was evident during the Siraj-Vaibhav contest. After being hit for a maximum, Siraj responded with pace and aggression before eventually dismissing the teenager with a sharp short ball. His roaring celebration appeared to be a release of pent-up frustration and relief after winning a high-pressure duel within the game.
Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan also praised the youngster’s fearless approach against pace. “I am very impressed by him, the way he is taking on bowlers easily when they are bowling him 145 KPH,” Dhawan said, backing Vaibhav for a future India debut.
Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, too, strongly backed the teenager, saying he would not be surprised if Vaibhav soon represents India across all three formats. Ashwin described him as a player who is “going to entertain” cricket fans for years to come.
The teenager’s rise has been remarkable. Vaibhav recently became the fastest and youngest player in men’s T20 cricket to reach 100 sixes, achieving the milestone in just 29 innings and 514 deliveries.
For fast bowlers like Siraj, being attacked so confidently by a 15-year-old can naturally provoke an emotional response. In modern T20 cricket, young batters arrive without fear, taking on senior international bowlers from the very first ball.
Ultimately, the Siraj–Vaibhav exchange captured the changing face of cricket, fearless young talent challenging established stars, and experienced players responding with equal intensity. Far from disrespect, the moment underscored the passion, pride, and pressure that make the IPL one of the most emotionally charged tournaments in world cricket.
