Indian para-badminton star Sukant Kadam has ascended to World No. 2 in the SL4 category in the latest BWF Para-Badminton World Rankings, following a remarkable campaign at the Spanish Para-Badminton International 2025.

With 53,650 ranking points, Kadam now stands just behind Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan, who leads with 56,680 points. France’s Lucas Mazur follows in third place with 48,400 points, according to a press release by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).

Kadam’s rise in the rankings comes after a series of stellar performances in Spain, where he competed in two Grade 2 tournaments and one Grade 1 event.

Displaying exceptional form, he clinched gold in the SL4 category at the Grade 2 tournament, overcoming compatriot Tarun in a commanding final with a 21-13, 21-10 victory.

However, in the Grade 1 competition, Kadam faced a tougher challenge and had to settle for the runner-up position after a hard-fought match against fellow Indian Naveen Sivakumar, losing 14-21, 21-14, 14-21.

Reflecting on his achievement, Kadam expressed satisfaction with his progress but remained focused on sustaining his performance.

“It’s a great start to 2025, and I’m happy with how I’ve been playing. Reaching World No. 2 is a proud moment, but the focus is now on maintaining this momentum. With major tournaments lined up, including the Asian Para Games and the World Championships next year, the goal is to stay consistent and keep improving,” he said, as quoted by the PCI press release.

Kadam’s rise underscores both his individual brilliance and India’s increasing dominance in the global para-badminton circuit.

With a packed international schedule ahead, the spotlight remains firmly on him as he aims for further success.
