Vinesh Phogat’s husband debunks claims of 16cr reward prize

Somvir Rathee declines all reward rumours given to Vinesh Phogat.

Vinesh Phogat’s husband Somvir Rathee declines all the rumours of a 16 crore reward given to Vinesh Phogat and calls it a tactic for cheap popularity.

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been making headlines on social media recently, with various claims surrounding her.

One of the most widely circulated claims is that she received a total reward of INR 16 crore upon her return to India. This viral post sparked widespread discussion, prompting Vinesh's husband, Somvir Rathee, to address the matter and clarify the situation.

Rathee took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to debunk the rumour, stating that the claim is false and is merely a tactic for gaining cheap popularity.

“Vinesh Phogat has not received any money from the following organizations, businessmen, companies and parties.

All of you are our well-wishers, please do not spread false news. This will not only harm us but will also harm social values. This is just a means to gain cheap popularity," Rathee tweeted.

Rathee emphasized that Vinesh has not received any monetary reward from the mentioned entities, which include Haryana Vyapar Sangh, International Jat Mahasabha, Punjab Jatt Association, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Association, and AKM Infra Private Limited, each allegedly contributing INR 2 crore.

Additionally, several other organizations were said to have contributed INR 1 crore each.

Rathee urged people not to spread false news, as it harms not only their reputation but also societal values. He requested well-wishers to refrain from sharing such baseless information.

Earlier in the Paris Olympics, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics' women's 50kg freestyle wrestling event.

After winning three matches in a single day and raising hopes for a gold medal, she was considered ineligible for the final due to exceeding the weight limit by 100 grams during the morning weigh-in.

Phogat also appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), her appeal was initially accepted but it was later dismissed after adjourning for three times.
