Vinod Kambli is ready to enter rehab for the 15th time and seek help from Kapil Dev

Vinod Kambli has agreed to enter rehab for the 15th time, accepting the offer from Kapil Dev and the 1983 World Cup-winning team to help him get back on track.

Kapil and his teammates offered to support Kambli, but only if he was willing to take the necessary steps, including going to rehab. Kambli welcomed the suggestion and said he isn't afraid as long as he has his family by his side.

Kambli admits he needs support, and although he isn’t struggling to meet basic needs, his financial situation is difficult. After a recent health scare, Kambli revealed that his only income is a Rs 30,000 monthly pension from the BCCI.

With two children to care for, Kambli is ready to try rehab again, hoping it will improve both his physical and financial health.

When asked about his financial condition, Kambli said, "Bad," but praised his wife for managing everything well. He also mentioned that former teammate Sunil Gavaskar was the first to react to Kapil Dev's offer. Kambli has no hesitation about entering rehab, saying, "As long as I have my family with me, I'm not afraid of anything. I will complete it and come back."

Kambli made headlines recently when videos of him at the unveiling of Ramakant Achrekar’s memorial showed him struggling, leading to concerns about his health.

Although he had difficulties a month ago, he is now doing better, and the cricket community quickly came together to support him, with Kapil’s team taking the lead.

Ajay Jadeja, another former teammate, also visited Kambli and encouraged him to get better. Kambli believes that if necessary, the BCCI will offer help, just as they did earlier this year when they provided INR 1 crore for the treatment of Anshuman Gaekwad.

Kambli acknowledged that excessive drinking caused him trouble in the past but shared that he has not consumed alcohol in the last six months. His friend, former First-Class umpire Marcus Couto, confirmed this. Kambli said, "I stopped drinking and smoking six months ago for the sake of my kids. I used to do it, but I’ve left it behind now."
