Women boxers Minakshi (48kg) and Pooja Rani (80kg) progressed to the semifinals of the World Boxing Cup on Wednesday, assuring India of two medals on the third day of the tournament.

 

Minakshi confirmed her place in the semifinals with a 5:0 win over Chinese Taipei's Guo Yi-Xua. Pooja Rani, on the other hand, registered a gritty 4:1 split decision victory over Kazakhstan’s Gulsaya Yerzhan to reach the final four.

 

Earlier, Anamika (51kg) reached the quarterfinals by defeating Turkey’s Aysen Taskin. In the men’s category, Jadumani Singh lost narrowly to Philippines’ Jay Bryan Baricuatro.
