2024 World Champions Cup postponed following severe weather.

The World Champions Cup, which debuted in 2023 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, has been postponed to 2025. Initially planned for December 2024, the event has been delayed due to the widespread impact of hurricanes Helene and Milton on the Florida Gulf Coast and other parts of the United States.

The World Champions Cup is a unique tournament that features top players from the PGA Tour Champions. The inaugural event last year saw three teams competing: Team USA, Team Europe, and Team International.

The tournament, which runs over three days, includes a total of 24 matches, with players competing in both team and individual formats.

The event has gained traction, and a multi-year extension has been secured, ensuring its return to The Concession Golf Club in 2024, 2025, and 2028, with additional host courses for 2026 and 2027 yet to be announced.

Team USA emerged as the winner of the inaugural competition, setting a high bar for future editions. Originally scheduled for December 5-8, 2024, the World Champions Cup will now take place in 2025, following the postponement.

The tournament format incorporates a mix of team play and individual matches, designed to keep the competition engaging for both players and fans. Each team is composed of six players, including the captains, adding to the strategic depth of the competition.

The scoring system is structured to reward performance in each hole. A total of three points is available per hole. The team with the best score on a hole earns two points, while the second-best score receives one point.

The team with the highest score gets no points for that hole, and ties are resolved by sharing points among the teams.

Several match formats are used to keep the competition exciting. In the Scotch Sixsome format, each player tees off, and then the teams alternate strokes using one ball to complete the hole.

In the Six Ball format, each player plays their own ball, and the lowest score from each team counts toward the total for that hole. Finally, Singles Matches pit players head-to-head in individual matchups, adding another layer of intensity to the competition.
