The International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) has officially sanctioned the World Super Kabaddi League (WSKL) 2025, a landmark initiative aimed at elevating the traditional sport to a global platform.
The league will be organised in collaboration with the South East Asian Kabaddi Federation (SEAKF) and the Kabaddi Association of Thailand.
In a congratulatory message addressed to SJ Uplift Kabaddi Private Limited, the league’s organising body, the IKF commended their commitment and strategic vision for the sport.
"Starting a kabaddi league is no small feat. It requires not only a deep understanding of the game but also exceptional organisational skills and a commitment to promoting this traditional sport. Your efforts will inspire young athletes and contribute significantly to the growth and popularity of kabaddi," the IKF said in a statement, as per its official press release.
The WSKL is set to feature players from member nations of the IKF, with a player auction preceding the tournament.
This format not only offers a stage for athletes to showcase their prowess but also promises to establish the league as a globally recognised kabaddi tournament.
The initiative follows a long-term vision laid out by the SEAKF, which, in August this year, granted SJ Uplift Kabaddi Private Limited exclusive rights to organise the league for 15 years.
With such robust support and planning, the WSKL aspires to cement kabaddi's place on the international sports stage, fostering opportunities for athletes and engaging a wider audience.
