Former Indian international cricketer Yuvraj Singh, widely regarded as one of the greatest southpaws in the game, will represent India Masters in the inaugural season of the International Masters League (IML).

The tournament, which will take place from February 22 to March 16, promises to showcase some of cricket’s most iconic players.

Yuvraj, a name synonymous with some of the most game-changing moments in cricket history, played a crucial role in India’s triumph at the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007.

His legendary six sixes off Stuart Broad in that tournament became a defining moment in his career.

Furthermore, he was instrumental in India’s victory at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament for his remarkable all-round performances.

Commenting on his return to competitive cricket with India Masters, Yuvraj Singh said, “Taking the field with Sachin and my other teammates feels like reliving the glory days. Playing alongside all of them brings back so many memories. For me, the IML is a tribute to the era that defined Indian cricket, and I can’t wait to create some more unforgettable memories for all the fans who have supported us over the years.”

Joining Yuvraj in the IML’s star-studded lineup are South Africa’s JP Duminy and Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga, who will represent their respective nations.

JP Duminy, known for his elegant stroke-play, composure under pressure, and handy off-spin, made over 9,000 runs in international cricket.

He captained South Africa in T20s and was often the stabilising force in tight situations.

Reflecting on his participation in the IML, Duminy said, “Representing South Africa Masters in season one of the International Masters League is a huge honour. I am looking forward to playing in a tournament that will feature the greats of the game. Cricket fans can rest assured that the cricket they will witness will be riveting and exhilarating.”

Upul Tharanga, a stylish and consistent opening batter who scored more than 9,000 international runs, will also feature in the IML, representing Sri Lanka Masters.

He was known for his ability to anchor the innings and accelerate when needed.

Tharanga remarked, “I look forward to representing Sri Lanka Masters in the inaugural season of the International Masters League. The IML will be a great tournament, in which old friends and rivals will take the field and produce memorable cricket.”
