The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unveiled its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar on Monday.
According to the agreement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest in 17 constituencies, the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] in 16, and Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will field candidates in five seats.
Vinod Tawde, the BJP's election in-charge for Bihar, disclosed the allocation during a press conference held at the BJP headquarters.
"The BJP will contest 17 out of the total 40 seats, while the JD(U) will field candidates in 16 constituencies. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest in five seats," Tawde announced, accompanied by NDA allies from the state.
Raju Tiwari, Bihar LJP (Ram Vilas) chief, confirmed that Chirag Paswan will vie for the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, allocated to the party as per the seat-sharing agreement.
However, the seat-sharing arrangement did not mention Union minister Pashupati Paras's LJP faction. Bihar BJP chief Samrat Choudhary noted ongoing discussions with him regarding the matter.
