Police in Rohtak recovered Rs 1 crore in cash from a car during a routine check, an officer said on Tuesday.
Rohtak Superintendent of Police SS Bhoria said police had on high alert following Monday evening’s Red Fort blast and are keeping a close watch on vehicle movement, frequently stopping them for checking.
During one such operation, a team headed by Inspector Rakesh Saini, in-charge of Shivaji Colony Police Station, stopped a car coming from Jhajjar with four men inside.
On inspection, officers found bundles of Rs 500, Rs 100, and Rs 200 notes inside backpacks carried by the two men sitting in the back seat. The total cash recovered amounted to Rs 1 crore.
Police seized the money and deposited it in the Rohtak Treasury. The Income Tax Department has also been informed, the officer said.
