Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Saturday, announced a Rs 100-crore cleanliness drive across 2,300 villages affected by floods in the state. Addressing the media, Mann said each village would initially receive Rs 1 lakh as token amount and additional funds would be provided as and when required.
The government would also supply essential equipment, including JCBs (earth-moving machines), tractor-trolleys and labour, to help remove debris like sand and fallen trees. The cleanliness operation will continue till September 25.

To address health concerns in the flood-affected areas, medical camps will be set up and 550 ambulances will be deployed. Medical staff will be stationed at panchayat bhawans, dharamshalas, anganwadi centres and schools. Mann said a disinfection campaign would also be launched to prevent the outbreak of diseases.
He said paddy procurement would begin on September 16 and flood-affected grain markets would be repaired by September 19.
