Thirteen girl students were hospitalised on Monday after reportedly eating ‘daliya’ for breakfast at a government school in Jalmana village, Samalkha. The incident happened at Kasturba Gandhi Government Girls' School. During the morning assembly, some students complained of severe stomach ache and headache, while others started vomiting.
The school staff immediately took them to the Community Health Centre in Bapoli.
After first aid, all 13 were referred to the Civil Hospital in Panipat, where all of them have been admitted to a special ward. The students are from classes VI and VII and stay in the school hostel.
The school warden confirmed that all students had been admitted for treatment. Dr Vijay Malik, Civil Surgeon, said all 13 girls are stable.
The Food Safety Officer has collected samples of the ‘daliya’, and water samples will be taken on Tuesday for testing.
