16 Bangladeshi nationals intercepted in Assam, repatriated

South Salmara-Mankachar Police intercepted 16 Bangladeshi nationals, including seven men, four women, and five children, after their arrival in Guwahati. Confirmed as Bangladeshi nationals, they were repatriated following legal procedures, reflecting vigilant efforts to address unauthorised cross-border movements in the region.

The Bangladeshi infiltrators were arrested by the South Salmara-Mankachar Police during an operation.


In a vigilant operation led by the South Salmara-Mankachar Police, 16 Bangladeshi nationals, including seven men, four women, and five children, were apprehended after their arrival in Guwahati from Bengaluru via train.

 

Their onward movement towards South Salmara-Mankachar district aroused suspicions, prompting authorities to detain them.

 

According to sources, the individuals had been taking refuge at the residence of a local in the district.

 

Following an investigation, the detainees were confirmed to be Bangladeshi nationals.

 

The individuals have been identified as Zakir Sk, Md Mehdi Hasan, Rumana Aktar, Md Rizwan Hawaldar, Jamal Sk, Beauty Begum, Munni Begum, Nushrat Zahan, Rustom Sk, Rubel Qureshi, Chand Mia, along with five children.

 

Subsequent to the confirmation of their nationality, the group was repatriated across the border as per established legal and diplomatic procedures.
