In a joint operation carried out by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force and the Border Range in Amritsar, police officials seized 18.22 kilograms of heroin from Khaira village in the Amritsar district.
The operation led to the arrest of Hira Singh, a resident of the village, who is alleged to have strong connections with anti-national groups and drug traffickers based in Pakistan.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced the success of the operation on social media, stating that the Anti-Narcotics Task Force Border Range apprehended Hira Singh, also known as Hira, from Khaira village under Gharinda police station limits and recovered 18.227 kilograms of heroin from his possession.
According to the initial findings, Hira Singh, along with his associate Kulwinder Singh alias Kinda from Village Dauke, was working closely with a Pakistan-based drug smuggler identified as Billa. The two were allegedly involved in cross-border heroin smuggling operations, acting on the instructions of Billa and distributing the narcotics as directed.
Punjab Police have stated that extensive raids are being carried out to locate and arrest Kulwinder Singh. The investigation is ongoing with a focus on dismantling the entire drug trafficking network. The police reiterated their commitment to fighting the drug menace and ensuring a safer, drug-free Punjab through continued enforcement efforts.
