Two men have been arrested in Panipat for harassing a girl by touching her inappropriately on NH-44. A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing two youths on a motorcycle misbehaving with two girls as they crossed the road.
The accused have been identified as Pramod and Sanjeev, residents of Sinoli village in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district.
According to DSP Suresh Saini, the incident came to light late Sunday night after the video surfaced online. It was recorded near the Red Light Chowk U-turn.
The police traced the motorcycle number and caught both men.
During questioning, the accused admitted they were returning to Uttar Pradesh after buying scrap material in Panipat when they saw the girls crossing the GT road and intentionally touched one of the girls inappropriately.
Superintendent of Police Bhupender Singh said the police were committed to women’s safety in the district. He added that hot spots in the city have been identified, and security has been tightened with Durga Shakti teams, women police personnel, and Emergency Response Vehicles deployed at sensitive points.
