Two hospitals in Himachal Pradesh received bomb threats on Tuesday, resulting in evacuations and heavy security checks, the police said.
The threats were emailed to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College and Hospital at Ner Chowk in Mandi district and Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba district. The emails claimed that “four RDX 800-silicon base fuses are purposely doped” to cause minimal casualties.
Mandi DSP Dinesh Kumar said both hospital premises were immediately secured, and searches were carried out with bomb disposal and dog squads.
All patients, staff, and attendants were safely evacuated as a precaution.
Earlier this year, several important government buildings in Himachal, including the State Secretariat, the High Court, and the DC office in Mandi, had received similar threats. All of those turned out to be hoaxes.
