In two different incidents, two minor boys died lost their lives while practising after iron poles of basketball allegedly collapsed on them in Rohtak and Bahadurgarh town (Jhajjar).
The boys have been identified as Aman (15) from Bahadurgarh and Hardik (16) from Lakhan Majra in Rohtak. Both were Class X students.
The first incident happened in Bahadurgarh on Sunday. As per reports, Aman had gone to a stadium in the area for his basketball practice in the afternoon when the basketball pole suddenly fell on him. He was taken to the civil hospital and then referred to PGIMS Rohtak, where he died from his injuries on Monday night. His cremation took place on Tuesday.
The second incident occurred at a stadium in Lakhan Majra, Rohtak, on Tuesday. Hardik suffered serious injuries after a basketball pole broke and fell on him when he reportedly tried to touch the basket.
Other young players ran to help him after seeing him trapped under the pole. They quickly removed the pole and rushed Hardik to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The freak incident was also recorded on CCTV near the court. Hardik had earlier played in the sub-junior national championship.
These two tragic incidents have shocked not only the two districts but the entire state.
