Heavy rains continue to disrupt life in Himachal Pradesh, with 220 roads closed across the state. A yellow warning has been issued for several districts this week, according to the weather department.
The monsoon, which began on June 20, has already taken a heavy toll. As per the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), 105 people have lost their lives — 61 in rain-related incidents and 44 in road accidents. Another 184 have been injured, and 35 are still missing.
The state has so far suffered losses worth over ₹786 crore, with 31 flashfloods, 22 cloudbursts, and 18 landslides reported this season.
Mandi district remains the worst affected, with around 160 roads still closed. Additionally, 153 water supply schemes and 67 power transformers have been damaged.
On Tuesday, heavy rainfall has been recorded in many areas. Since Monday evening, Jubbarhatti near Shimla received 56 mm of rain, followed by Kahu (39.5 mm), Bilaspur (30.8 mm), Kasauli (28 mm), and several others.
Thunderstorms hit Sundernagar, Palampur, and Shimla, while strong winds between 37–41 km/h swept through Kufri and Dhaulakuan.
Meanwhile, search operations are still ongoing to find 27 missing people who were swept away in flashfloods in Mandi on the night of June 30. That incident alone left 15 people dead, officials confirmed.
