Veena Sahumade, a 24-year-old from Jamarua village in Chhattisgarh, has achieved a major milestone by joining the Military Nursing Service (MNS) of the Indian Army.
She is the first girl in her family to get a government job, and her story has become an inspiration to many in her village.
Veena comes from a simple farming family, and her journey was not easy. She is one of five sisters and often had to ride her bicycle long distances to get to school. Despite facing financial challenges, her father always supported her education and dreams.
After completing her nursing course in 2022, Veena worked hard and passed the tough MNS exam in 2024, earning one of 455 positions out of 1,400 candidates.
Now working in Haryana, Veena returned to her village, where she was greeted like a hero. Her proud father's tears of joy and the celebrations in her village showed how much her achievement means to everyone.
"My selection felt like a festival at home," Veena said. "It has inspired many girls in my village to believe in their dreams."
Veena's success shows that with determination and hard work, one can overcome challenges, giving hope for a brighter future to the girls in her community.
