A group of 255 Sikh pilgrims has departed from Gurudwara Chhevin Patshahi in Kurukshetra for Pakistan to celebrate Khalsa Sajna Diwas. The group is likely to cross the Attari-Wagah Border on April 10 and return after ten days of performing darshan and marking the festivities.
According to Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) President Jagdish Singh Jhinda, “the group left from Kurukshetra on Thursday to celebrate the festival. The members for the travel were shortlisted from the total 275 candidates who had submitted their documents, including four committee employees.”
“A total of 255 people were shortlisted and selected for the journey,” he said.
The group is set to visit Nankana Sahib, Kartarpur, Lahore, and other important places.
“We request the government to allow at least 1,100 pilgrims from Haryana to visit Pakistan on important occasions,” Jhinda said.
He also expressed gratitude to the central and state governments for granting permission for this important religious tour.
The president said that while current India-Pakistan relations are not favourable, the pilgrims have been requested to follow the protocol and regulations prescribed by the Government of India.
A member of the group praised the Government of India for showing respect for the religious sentiments of the Panth by allowing people to undertake the sacred journey.
