Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday assured Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha of full support from the Centre as the state grapples with devastating floods that have claimed 26 lives and left 1.17 lakh people homeless since August 19.
"Spoke to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, providing details of the flood situation. He assured full support to the people of Tripura during this crisis. We are extremely grateful for his kind gesture," Saha stated on X (formerly Twitter).
Earlier, Saha had also briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation.
The Centre has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for relief and rehabilitation efforts in the state.
Tripura is witnessing its worst floods in three decades, with damage to infrastructure, property, and crops estimated at around Rs 15,000 crore.
The Chief Minister convened an all-party meeting to discuss reconstruction plans for the state.
The state government is working round-the-clock to provide relief, and with the Centre's support, efforts are underway to restore normalcy as soon as possible.
