Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Tuesday that Uttarakhand would join the ranks of the country's leading states with development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore underway with the support of the Central government.
Addressing a special Assembly session which was convened to mark 25 years of the state's formation, Dhami said, "With the guidance and support of the Prime Minister, various development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore are underway. Once they are completed, our state will play a key role in realising the dream of 'Viksit Bharat'."
The Chief Minister referred to several major projects, including the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project, all-weather road projects, ropeways and air connectivity schemes, in his address.
Dhami said his government has formulated 30 new policies in various sectors, including energy and tourism. He highlighted Uniform Civil Code, anti-conversion laws, new anti-riot laws, stricter anti-cheating laws and minority education laws as his government's achievements.
Stating that strict action has been taken against 200 corrupt officials, including IAS, PCS, and IFS officers, and 9,000 acres of land has been freed from encroachments, Dhami said his government has curbed corruption and taken decisive action against "land jihad, love jihad and spit jihad,”.
The chief minister said that that more than 26,000 people have been provided employment in the last four years. "We have taken many historic and far-reaching decisions in the state's interest, the impact of which will be felt by generations to come for years."
The CM also paid tribute to those who led the agitation for the state's formation, and hailed former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s contributions in this regard. “Vajpayee not only created the state, but also provided an economic package for its development,” he said.
CM hails RSS role in ‘cultural renaissance’
Dhami praised the contribution of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), describing it as a force behind India's cultural renaissance and national consciousness.
"Through its 100-year journey of austerity, the RSS has unleashed a divine stream of cultural renaissance, social harmony, self-respect and patriotic service in India, which has ignited the eternal flame of national consciousness in every corner of the country," the Chief Minister said.
He said India, which once suffered from a "slave mentality", now takes pride in its cultural values, scientific outlook, and traditions, an awakening he attributed to the Sangh’s dedication and discipline.
Concluding his speech during the special Assembly session, Dhami quoted lines from a song sung in RSS shakhas, "These turbulent waves will not deter us from our path. We will keep steering the boat, and our destination will come, it will come…"
