Three people were killed, and six others are feared trapped after a three-storey building collapsed on Saturday, according to officials. Rescue operations by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are ongoing despite heavy rain in the area.

"Fourteen people were initially trapped, of whom three were rescued earlier. Five more have now been rescued, but six remain trapped. NDRF and SDRF teams are on-site, and unfortunately, three of the eight rescued have lost their lives. Our priority is to rescue the remaining six," he told reporters.

The collapse occurred around 5:15 p.m., prompting emergency services to respond. The building's owner, Nafo Alauddin, ran a dairy from the site.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to expedite relief efforts and ensure proper treatment for the injured. "Relief money of ₹4 lakh each has been provided to the families of the deceased," the Chief Minister's office posted on X. So far, aid has been distributed for 30 affected families, with 3,056 houses damaged due to the floods.

Eleven districts in Uttar Pradesh are currently affected by floods, and 17 deaths have been reported, according to the Chief Minister's office.

Meerut Division Commissioner Selva Kumari J, Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, and City Superintendent of Police Ayush Vikram Singh are overseeing rescue efforts at the site, with support from local residents.
