In what triggered an alarm across national capital in various departments, it was a bomb threat message received through email in at least three schools, prompting the emergency services to be kicked in. School authorities send back children in no time while Police and Delhi Fire Services plunged into action searching the premises.
Opposition AAP lost no time in attacking BJP government with its chief Arvind Kejriwal slamming the former for its claims on 'four engine government'. AAP's other senior leaders also questioned the government's silence and failure to what they said a safe, secure atmosphere in educational institutions.
The officials said that around 8 am, police received calls regarding the bomb threats from CRPF Schools in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka Sector 16, as well as another school in Chanakyapuri. The threats however proved to be hoax.Delhi Fire Services (DFS) confirmed that they received calls from two schools - the CRPF Public School in Dwarka Sector 16 and Navy School in Chanakyapuri - in which the administration said that they received the email after which the bomb squad, dog squad and other agencies were alerted.
It was first on Monday the threat was sent to two schools through the mail. One of these is in Chanakyapuri and the other in Dwarka. Nothing suspicious was found so far during the search, Delhi Police said in a statement. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, " The area was promptly sanitised. Local police, sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads reached the school and conducted due checks.The children were evacuated, officials aware of the matter said.He added that cyber police experts are ascertaining the source of the email. "Security has been tightened in the school. Nothing suspicious has been found so far," the DCP said.
Earlier this year, two schools in Delhi-NCR and St Stephen's College received bomb threats via email. Noida’s Shiv Nadar School and Alcon School in Delhi received bomb threats, prompting the administration to send students home.However, the bomb threat to Delhi's Ahlcon International School turned out to be a hoax.This development comes after multiple private schools in Noida received similar threats. However, during the investigation, police discovered that the bomb threats were sent by a Class 9 student who wanted to avoid attending schoolEarlier this year in February, a private school and a Delhi University (DU) college in Delhi received separate bomb threat emails which the authorities said it that the mails turned out to be hoax.
On Tuesday, Arvind Kejriwal on X called out the BJP governement in Delhi as "a four-engine government have completely failed" after the continuous bomb threats received at educational institutions on two consecutive days in Delhi.Kejriwal took to X and said, "What's happening in Delhi? Yesterday, two schools received bomb threats, and today, another school and college got threats. Children are scared, parents are extremely worried. BJP's four-engine governments have completely failed."AAP leader, Atishi, also shared on X,
"The continuous bomb threats to schools and colleges in Delhi are extremely terrifying and worrisome. Children are scared, parents are distressed - the BJP's four-engine governments have proven incapable of even providing security. Does the safety of children hold no importance for them? Law and order have completely collapsed."Today, Delhi's St. Thomas School in Delhi's Dwarka and St. Stephen's College of the University of Delhi received bomb threats.
