Mini-bus turns turtle in Reasi, 30 passengers injured

A minibus carrying passengers overturned on a hilly road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, leaving at least 30 people injured, most of them women.

The accident occurred near Tara Morh while the vehicle was traveling from Moughla in Rajouri district to Pouni in Reasi. According to officials, two of the injured were in critical condition and were immediately referred to the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu for specialised treatment.

The seriously injured passengers were identified as Rafaqat Ali and Goutam Sharma.

The accident resulted in 30 passengers sustaining injuries, including 22 women. They were rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident to determine whether factors such as road conditions or driver negligence played a role.

This incident comes just days after another tragic road accident in Reasi district, where a tempo vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. In that accident, at least four people lost their lives, and eight others sustained injuries.

Officials stated that the vehicle was en route from Jammu to Bagankote when the driver apparently lost control, leading to the fatal mishap.

A police official confirmed that the injured passengers were immediately rescued and transported to nearby medical facilities with the help of local volunteers, police personnel, and emergency response teams.

The condition of the injured was not immediately known. Reasi SSP Paramvir Singh stated that the tempo was headed towards Mahore when it veered off the road and tumbled into a gorge. Three people died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Six of the eight injured victims were later shifted to Jammu for further treatment.

Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution while travelling on hilly roads, emphasising the need for strict adherence to safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
