A total of 36 newly elected Zila Parishad members took oath in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur and Una districts on Monday. The oath was administered by the respective Deputy Commissioners. Of the total, 19 members were sworn in at Una and 17 in Hamirpur.
Congratulating the newly elected representatives, Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said Panchayati Raj institutions were the backbone of grassroots democracy and that Zila Parishads played a key role in planning and implementing rural development initiatives.
He urged the members to work with honesty, transparency and commitment while keeping public welfare at the centre of their efforts.
In Hamirpur, Deputy Commissioner Gandhrava Rathore interacted with the newly elected members after the oath-taking ceremony and briefed them on their responsibilities, powers and role in strengthening local governance and development.
