Four polling stations, one in Kurung Kumey and three in Upper Subansiri, are slated for re-polling following reports of violence, announced Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain.

The affected stations include Langte Loth in the Nyapin assembly constituency, Kurung Kumey district, and Bogia-Siyum, Dingser, and Lengi under the Nacho assembly constituency, Upper Subansiri district.

Instances of attempted destruction of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) prompted the decision for re-polling.

CEO Sain affirmed, "We have identified the individuals responsible for attempting to damage or snatch the EVMs. Action has been initiated against them."

Moreover, as of 5 pm on Friday, the polling percentages for the assembly and parliamentary elections stood at 67% and 65%, respectively.

However, due to adverse weather conditions and technical glitches with EVMs in certain areas, voting experienced delays, CEO Sain disclosed.

The election commission's vigilance efforts yielded significant results, with the seizure of items and cash amounting to over Rs. 18 crore in the state.

Additionally, 44 instances of poll-related violence have been documented thus far.

Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa reported an altercation between supporters of two candidates near a polling station in the Bameng constituency, East Kameng district.

"The situation was swiftly brought under control, and polling activities resumed," Apa assured.

Meanwhile, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured ten seats uncontested in the 60-member assembly, setting the tone for a closely watched electoral contest.

Arunachal Pradesh, known for its robust voter participation, witnessed a remarkable 83.33% turnout during the simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly polls in 2019.

Counting of votes for the assembly elections is scheduled for June 2, with Lok Sabha poll results set to be unveiled on June 4.

In another development, polling for all 69 stations of Nari-Koyu and Likabali assembly constituencies in Lower Siang district concluded peacefully, with a notable surge in voter turnout.

Reports from the District Information and Public Relations Office (DIPRO) affirmed the absence of any untoward incidents, underscoring the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

The essence of democracy was vividly evident, with a significant number of electors turning out at polling stations across the region.

This year's electoral spectacle was further accentuated by the introduction of distinctive polling stations, including pink polling stations and model polling stations, adding vibrancy to the democratic exercise.

While some polling teams have safely returned with the polled EVMs, the retrieval process is expected to conclude by the following day.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the reception, storage, and security of the EVMs in Likabali.
