4 govt teachers suspended for 'negligence' in Amarnath Yatra duty

Four government teachers in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have been placed under suspension with immediate effect over alleged dereliction of duty assigned in connection with the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra, according to an official order.

 

The suspension order was issued by the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Ganderbal, following a communication from the Nodal Officer, Transit Camp Manigam, who also serves as the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Ganderbal.

 

The suspended teachers have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Sheikh of Haripora Kangan, Aabid Mohi-ud-Din Bhat of Manigam, Peer Mudasir of Wussan and Gowhar Rashid Kuloo of Gund.The order stated that the four teachers had been placed under suspension with immediate effect in pursuance of a letter issued by the Nodal Officer on July 7.The order states that the suspension was issued in response to a letter from the Nodal Officer dated July 7, 2026, and took effect immediately.

 

 

The order does not specify the exact nature of the alleged misconduct or negligence that led to the suspension. However, officials said the action was taken in connection with duties assigned during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra arrangements at the Manigam Transit Camp.

 

Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has deployed 63 senior officers and dozens of education department staff to manage the annual Amarnath Yatra. These government employees are assigned to base and transit camps as Camp Directors and Additional Camp Directors, drawing their standard salaries from their parent departments.

 

As per Government Order No. 1080-JK(GAD) issued on June 16,  of 63 officers across the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) and other departments have been given the duties on deputation  Dozens of personnel, including teachers from the Education Department, are deployed to registration centers and transit camps (such as Manigam and Yatri Niwas Baltal) to assist with RFID scanning and pilgrim management.

 

 All deployed officials report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, which determines their exact camp locations. Given the fact they have been assigned heightened responsibilities, employees are closely monitored as to whether they perform it properly without any negligence.
