More than 40 students of a residential tribal school in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district were hospitalised after they fell ill with suspected food poisoning following breakfast served at the hostel, officials said.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning at the Primitive Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) Boys Gurukul, where students were served khichdi and tamarind chutney for breakfast.
Soon after the meal, several students began complaining of stomach pain, while others started vomiting during the morning school assembly. School authorities immediately alerted health officials and arranged for medical assistance.
According to health supervisor Husenamma, students started falling sick one after another shortly after breakfast. She also said the hostel had been facing issues related to drinking water, though the exact cause of the illness is yet to be determined.

The affected students were initially taken to the Mannanur Primary Health Centre, where they received first aid before being shifted by ambulance to Achhampet Area Hospital for further treatment and observation.
Doctors at the hospital said most students were admitted with complaints of stomach pain, while a few also experienced vomiting.
Dr Mahesh, who is overseeing their treatment, said all the students were in stable condition and responding well to medical care.
"We are providing appropriate treatment to all the students. Their condition is improving, and there is no cause for concern," he said.
Medical officials have collected samples of the food served at the hostel and sent them for laboratory analysis to determine the exact cause of the suspected food poisoning.
Meanwhile, district officials visited the hospital, met the affected students and assured their parents that all necessary medical care was being provided.
Hospital authorities said the students are recovering well, and most are expected to be discharged after observation if their condition continues to improve.
