Forty-five passengers sustained injuries when a private bus rammed into two trucks on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Thursday morning.
The collision, attributed to dense fog, occurred near Lahdi Ka Bas, leaving the bus severely damaged and disrupting traffic flow.
Nangal-Rajawatan Deputy Superintendent of Police Charul Gupta reported that the bus, carrying devotees travelling from Ujjain to Delhi, collided with the trucks, which had earlier crashed due to poor visibility.
“Around 45 passengers in the bus were injured, and more than 20 have been admitted to the Dausa District Hospital,” she said.
Four critically injured individuals were referred to Jaipur for specialised medical care, while some of the injured proceeded to Noida and Delhi for further treatment.
The bus’s front portion bore the brunt of the impact, with police describing the damage as extensive.
In the wake of the accident, District Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr Deepak Sharma mobilised additional medical staff to manage the situation.
“Additional doctors and staff were deployed following the arrival of a large number of injured passengers,” he said.
Dense fog continues to pose challenges for motorists on the expressway during winter, with the latest mishap adding to concerns about road safety.
Further updates on the incident are awaited.
