Five people on a pilgrimage died, and over 42 others were injured when the bus they were travelling in collided with a tractor on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, according to police reports on Tuesday.
The individuals who lost their lives were devotees of Lord Vitthal, known as Warkaris. According to the police, they were en route from Dombivli near Mumbai to Pandharpur to celebrate Ashadhi Ekadashi.
The bus crashed into a tractor and plunged into a gorge around midnight.
DCP Vivek Pansare informed the media that the bus was carrying 52 passengers from Dombivli who were travelling to Pandharpur when their bus collided with a tractor near Adne village.
The injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital, and he also mentioned that the condition of three individuals is critical.
