In a shocking incident in Bihar’s Supaul district, a five-year-old nursery student brought a handgun to school on Wednesday and shot a Class 3 student, injuring him.
The incident took place at a private school in the Lalpatti area, leaving the community in shock and concern.
Superintendent of Police Shaishav Yadav confirmed, “The student fired at a 10-year-old boy who studies in the same school. The bullet hit his arm.”
The injured student was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities are investigating how the young boy obtained the firearm and managed to carry it into the school undetected.
“We are trying to find out how the boy got his hands on the gun and carried it to school,” said Yadav.
In response to the incident, the SP has urged all schools in the district to implement regular bag checks to prevent such occurrences in the future.
“The incident has caused much anxiety among parents and guardians,” Yadav added, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures in schools.
