At least 57 clerks-cum-data entry operators and sewadars got 'fake' transfer orders in Punjab. The bizarre incident has left officials of the Punjab Education Department embarrassed.
The issue came to light when these counterfeit transfer orders went viral on social media, confusing the department employees. Mistaking the fake documents for legitimate directives, several District Education Officers (DEOs) began implementing the transfers, relocating staff as per the false instructions.
In response, the Director of the School Education Department issued an urgent letter on February 2, warning DEOs not to act on these misleading orders.
On Wednesday, the director confirmed that some DEOs and school heads had already posted employees to new locations based on the fake transfers. The Director General of School Education (DGSE) has since instructed all DEOs and school heads to disregard any transfer orders unless they are officially communicated via the designated email channels.
Officials have been urged to verify the authenticity of such orders before taking any action.
