Six detained after testing positive for drug use during raid at Hyderabad party; probe underway into organisers and source of narcotics.

Six persons were detained after testing positive for drug consumption during a late-night raid at a private party held at Taramati Baradari Resort in the Golconda area of Hyderabad, police said on Sunday.

According to officials, the raid was conducted by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics unit, also known as the Eagle team, following a tip-off about suspected drug use at the event. The private party, titled ‘More Than Friends’, was reportedly organised by an individual identified as Chandra.

Sources said the organisers had sought last-minute permission for the event under the pretext of a tourism campaign. While approval was requested from the excise department for alcohol consumption, the event allegedly commenced without proper clearance. Over 200 people were said to be attending the party.

Acting on intelligence inputs, Eagle team DSP Bhikshapati, along with personnel from the Golconda police station, carried out a surprise raid at around 10 pm on Saturday. During the operation, approximately 36 attendees were subjected to drug tests to prevent anyone from evading scrutiny.

Police confirmed that six individuals tested positive for drug use, including a young woman. The detainees were identified as Param C Nihar, Aashi, Abdul Sarwar, Yogeshwar, and Jason.

All six were taken into custody and shifted to the police station for further interrogation. Officials stated that they will be produced before a court on Sunday.

Police have initiated a detailed investigation to gather further information about the case, including the source of the drugs and the extent of involvement of the organisers.
