Security forces have killed at least 75 militants, mostly of foreign origin, in Jammu and Kashmir in counter-insurgency operations in 2024, officials said.
Official sources said in different counter-insurgency operations, the security forces in the outgoing year have eliminated 75 militants, including 45 Pakistanis.
Additionally, the local recruitment of militants in Pakistan-sponsored militant groups has almost gone down to zero this year; “among the 75 killed this year have mostly been sent by Pakistan,” they said.
Meanwhile, “neighbouring Pakistan is making all attempts to push as many people as possible on the inside side into Jammu and Kashmir to create disturbances in the region. However, alert forces have foiled all their nefarious designs,” they added.
They said between January and December this year, security forces have killed 75 militants in different encounters and operations besides foiling infiltration attempts across Jammu and Kashmir.
“Pakistan is still trying to push a large number of terrorists to carry out terror incidents, but alert security forces have successfully eliminated them,” they added.
Out of a total of 75, 17 militants were killed while trying to infiltrate from the Line of Control (LOC), most from the North Kashmir side and the international border (IB) from the Jammu side.
“As per the official data, the maximum number of 14 Pakistani terrorists have been killed in Baramulla in nine encounters this year,” they said.
