The police have arrested eight men for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl here.
On April 10, the girl had gone to the DSO office to get her ration card prepared. A17-year-old boy with whom her marriage had been fixed had also accompanied her.
While returning from the DSO office, at around 2.30 pm, she and her fiancé sat near a canal when Yogesh, Ajay and seven to eight unidentified men approached them.
The accused took them into separate bushes. While three men raped the victim, others snatched her gold earrings and Rs 5,000 cash, and also forcibly got Rs 5,000 transferred from her fiancé’s phone using UPI, the victim stated in her complaint.
The police have registered an FIR in this regard under BNS sections 70 (gangrape), 126 (2) (wrongful restraint), 308 (5) (extortion) among others and the POCSO Act on April 12.
According to Ankita Sharma, Kasganj SP, so far the police have arrested eight people in this incident and efforts were on to nab two other accused.
