As many as eight people were injured after a bus on its way from Delhi to Manali met with an accident on the national highway in Haryana’s Karnal district, said police officials on Saturday. The accident took place late on Friday night.
According to officials, a Delhi-Manali Volvo bus rammed into a truck, which then hit a tractor trolley in its way. The accident occurred near the Taraori highway as the bus filled with passengers was travelling to Manali via Chandigarh.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Subhash told reporters at the accident site that the bus hit the truck from behind.
“The truck then hit the tractor. Eight to nine people were injured in the accident. The injured were taken to Civil Hospital Taraori,” he said.
“We were sleeping when the accident occurred. We don’t know how exactly it happened. Some passengers were injured,” a man travelling on the bus told reporters at the site.
The police have taken cognisance of the incident, and further investigation is underway.
