Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa

Punjab Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday questioned the timing of separate meetings scheduled between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and BJP MP Raghav Chadha with President Droupadi Murmu. Bajwa alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP were acting like “two sides of the same coin.”

In a post on X, Bajwa said Chadha’s meeting with the President, scheduled just 90 minutes before Mann’s appointment, raises serious questions. He also warned AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal that another political “surprise” could be on the way after seven AAP MPs recently shifted to the BJP.

"I had already cautioned that Bhagwant Mann might quietly park MLAs in Delhi to serve the BJP's interests. Now, with Raghav Chadha meeting the President barely 90 minutes before him on the same day, the sequence raises more questions than answers. At this pace, Arvind Kejriwal may find that the next 'surprise' comes a little too soon--even for him. And let's not forget--Sunil Jakhar had dropped a hint yesterday. Aam Aadmi Party and BJP are two sides of the same coin," Bajwa said.

Bajwa’s remarks came as Mann is in Delhi to meet President Murmu. The Chief Minister is expected to raise the issue of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs joining the BJP and seek cancellation of their memberships.

Meanwhile, Chadha is also scheduled to meet the President the same day. He is likely to raise concerns over alleged targeting of AAP MPs who recently moved to the BJP in Punjab.

Earlier in the day, Mann departed from Chandigarh for New Delhi along with nearly 95 AAP MLAs. However, Rashtrapati Bhavan has granted an appointment only to the Chief Minister for the meeting with the President.
