AAP wins Tarn Taran bypoll by over 12,000 votes

AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu defeated his nearest rival, Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa of the Shiromani Akali Dal, by a margin of 12,091 votes

Harmeet Singh Sandhu (extreme right) of the AAP secured 42,649 votes as against 30,558 votes polled by the SAD's Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa.


The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has secured a decisive victory in the Tarn Taran Vidhan Sabha by-election with its candidate, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, defeating his nearest rival, Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa of the Shiromani Akali Dal, by a margin of 12,091 votes.

 

Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh’s party Waris Punjab De surpassed the Congress to clinch the third spot after the 16th and last round of counting.

 

The AAP secured 42,649 votes, followed by the SAD (30,558), Waris Punjab De (19,620), Congress (15,078) and BJP (6,239).

 

With this emphatic win, the AAP has further strengthened its position in Punjab ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled in 2027.
