Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee is set to launch a marathon 21-day campaign starting January 2 to safeguard the voter rolls ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. The party announced on Friday that the drive, which runs through January 22, is designed to ensure that no legitimate voter is stripped of their right to vote. Framing the initiative as a defense against potential "intimidation or harassment" by what the party calls the "BJP-EC combine," Banerjee plans to personally hit the streets to monitor the process and engage with the public.

The campaign will kick off in Banerjee’s own backyard, the Diamond Harbour constituency in South 24 Parganas, before quickly moving to the northern districts of Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri on January 3. From there, his tour will cut across the state, covering critical areas like Uttar Dinajpur, Malda, Kolkata, Midnapore, and Bongaon, eventually winding down in Hooghly. This effort coincides with a separate, month-long "connect and dialogue" program launched this Friday, where 38 dedicated teams are reaching out to 1,800 influential figures across Bengal. These "influencers" are being provided with a specialised kit that includes a 15-year performance report card of the Mamata Banerjee government, a memento, and a personal letter from the Chief Minister.

During a massive virtual meeting with nearly 15,000 party workers, Banerjee also laid out the organisational groundwork needed to sustain this momentum. He announced the appointment of district-level coordinators to oversee these public relations exercises and asserted that the need of the hour is to support ground-level staff. In an attempt to lift the morale of the party's booth-level agents, BLA2, Banerjee has reportedly been sending them notebooks, calendars, and traditional "Uttariya" stoles as a mark of appreciation. With high-level voter roll verification to engaging grassroots influencer levels, TMC seems to gear up pretty well in advance of the next big electoral fight.
