Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's (ABVP) candidate Maithily Mrinalini has made history by becoming the first woman president of the Patna University Students' Union (PUSU) in the institution's 100-year history.
The student union elections, held on Saturday, saw a fierce contest, with the counting of votes continuing late into the night.
Despite the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, withdrawing its nominee in favor of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) candidate Manoranjan Kumar, Mrinalini secured a comfortable victory.

A Victory for Democracy
Speaking to reporters after her historic win, Mrinalini described her victory as a triumph of democracy over money and muscle power. She is also the first ABVP candidate in over a decade to claim the PUSU president's post.
