A gunshot was accidentally fired by a valet driver in the parking area of Nexus Elante Mall on Tuesday evening. During the initial investigation, police stated that it was a case of accidental firing.
According to reports, the incident happened when two people from Mohali visited the Nexa showroom at Elante Offices in Chandigarh's Industrial Area. They handed over their car to the dealership’s valet driver, Sahil, for parking.
Unaware that the car contained a licensed firearm, Sahil picked up the gun out of curiosity, which accidentally triggered a shot. The bullet hit another parked car in the lot. Soon after the incident, people raised an alarm, and the police were informed.
A local police team, along with a CFSL (Central Forensic Science Laboratory) team, arrived at the scene and began an investigation.
A police official stated, "We have started a probe and will take legal action against the person responsible for the gunshot."
Meanwhile, Elante Mall released an official statement clarifying that while the incident involved a valet driver from the Nexa showroom, it took place in the dealership's allotted parking space and was not connected to the mall itself.
