Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dinesh Kumar, a former international boxer, is facing public criticism after he used an earthmover to clear vegetable vendors from a road after complaints of road obstruction.

Taking note of the viral video, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bahadurgarh Mayank Mishra said it was an “individual lapse of judgement”. Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh also took cognisance of the incident and discussed the matter with the DCP Bahadurgarh and the Commissioner of Police, Jhajjar.

Explaining the incident, DCP Mishra said, “A video circulating on social media shows one of our officers using a JCB to push back vegetable vendors. The video was examined and fact-checked.”

He added that in the Patel Nagar area, police had received several complaints about road blockages caused by encroachment.

A police team later visited the site to clear the road, but the officer said that despite the right intent, the method used was wrong. ACP Kumar was seen in the video giving directions to the JCB operator to remove the vendors and their goods.

“This is not the department’s policy,” DCP Mishra clarified. “It is an individual lapse of judgment for which he has been asked to remain cautious in future,” he stated this in a video message.
