The Rudraprayag district administration has intensified preparations to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of this year’s Kedarnath Yatra. Officials conducted detailed ground inspections and reviewed arrangements along key stretches of the pilgrimage route to assess readiness.

As part of the review exercise, officials visited several halt points along the route. They closely examined facilities available to pilgrims and evaluated logistical arrangements to ensure better coordination during the yatra.

The inspection began at Sonprayag parking area, where authorities reviewed parking management, CCTV surveillance systems, nearby shops, and accommodation facilities for security personnel. Officials also checked cleanliness levels, availability of drinking water, and the condition and functioning of toilet facilities.

The team later inspected the “Har Har Mahadev” community kitchen (bhandara). They assessed the quality of food being served to devotees and reviewed overall arrangements at the facility. Officials stressed the need to maintain strict hygiene standards and an organised food distribution system to prevent inconvenience to pilgrims.

At Sitapur bus parking, officials reviewed passenger amenities, parking operations, and crowd management measures. In the Kund area, inspections focused on traffic regulation, sanitation facilities, and drinking water availability. Necessary instructions were issued to concerned departments to maintain proper standards throughout the yatra period.

As per the administration, additional efforts have been made this year to make the Kedarnath Yatra safer, more organised, and better managed compared to previous years.

Rudraprayag District Magistrate Vishal Mishra said officials have been deployed along the entire yatra route and continuous ground monitoring is underway. He added that preparations are being regularly reviewed to address challenges in real time.

The token system has been further strengthened to regulate the flow of pilgrims and prevent overcrowding at the shrine. Adequate security forces have been deployed, including two Yatra magistrates stationed at Kedarnath. Two sector magistrates have also been appointed along the Sonprayag–Sitapur road stretch to manage operations effectively.

The Char Dham Yatra, one of India’s most important religious pilgrimages, formally began on April 19 with rituals performed at various shrines. The Kedarnath Yatra commenced with the ceremonial departure of Lord Kedarnath’s Panchmukhi palanquin from its winter seat at Omkareshwar Temple.

The Uttarakhand Police have implemented multi-layered arrangements to ensure pilgrim safety, smooth movement, and effective crowd management throughout the pilgrimage season.

Earlier on Sunday, Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar conducted a foot inspection along the Kedarnath pedestrian route to review preparedness and assess ground-level arrangements.
