YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday, accusing the Telugu Desam Party-led government of orchestrating a campaign of "vindictive" violence to crush the opposition. The former CM’s outburst follows the death of Manda Salman, a YSRCP worker from the Gurazala constituency, whom Jagan described as the latest victim of Naidu’s personal vendetta.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jagan detailed a disturbing account of the incident, claiming that Salman — a Dalit and a poor labourer — was brutally beaten with iron rods while he was visiting his sick wife. To make matters worse, Jagan alleged that a fabricated case was filed against the victim after the assault. Jagan asked: "What answer do you have for the murder of Manda Salman?".
The YSRCP leader gave a frightening insight into the circumstances prevailing in the Pinnelli village, stating that the supporters of the TDP and the MLAs have been making death threats to all those who do not fall in line. Owing to the terror prevailing in the area, hundreds of families belonging to the YSRCP have had to leave their houses and are living in fear. According to Jagan, this isn't a one-off event but part of a continuous pattern of lawlessness that has gripped the Palnadu region and the rest of the state since the 2024 elections.
"Is it not the responsibility of the TDP supremo to ensure safety of every citizen?" asked Jagan, thereby calling the present state of affairs a "constitutional violation." He warned Naidu that the consequences of such violent politics would eventually catch up with him, stating, "Never forget that what you sow today will be reaped tomorrow."
While the TDP has yet to issue a formal response to these specific allegations, Jagan reiterated that his party would stand firmly by Salman’s family and continue to fight against what he termed "immoral" and "violent" politics.
