In a vibrant celebration of cultural unity and global collaboration, Peru has been announced as the Partner Country for the 25th edition of the iconic Hornbill Festival, set to begin on December 1, 2024.
This landmark partnership was revealed during a joint announcement in New Delhi by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Peru's Ambassador to India, Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, promising an infusion of South American flair into one of India’s most celebrated cultural extravaganzas.
Chief Minister Rio, joined by his cabinet colleagues, including the Deputy Chief Ministers, engaged in productive discussions with Ambassador Velarde before the formal declaration.
Peru now joins the ranks of Wales and Japan, previous collaborators, in adding a global dimension to the “Festival of Festivals.”
Ambassador Velarde enthusiastically confirmed Peru’s participation, stating, “Artists, cultural performers, and dancers from Peru will participate in various events during the festival.”
Welcoming the partnership, Chief Minister Rio expressed his delight at the opportunity to foster deeper bilateral ties and cultural exchanges.
“Nagaland is eager to host the Peruvian delegation at the 'Festival of Festivals',” he shared, lauding the Ambassador’s efforts in facilitating this remarkable association.
The Hornbill Festival, a flagship event showcasing Nagaland’s rich heritage and traditions, is poised to reach new heights with Peru’s inclusion, creating a unique platform for international cultural diplomacy and artistic exchange.
