A family in India has alleged that a woman was unable to visit her husband, who was in the ICU of a hospital in Oman before he passed away, due to the cancellation of her Air India Express flight to the country last week. The family is heartbroken over the incident.

The woman, Amrita, had booked tickets for May 8 to see her husband in Muscat, but when she reached the airport, she was told that the flight had been cancelled.

After protesting at the airport, she was given a ticket for another Air India Express flight the following day. However, that flight was also cancelled, resulting in her having to cancel her travel plans altogether.

On Monday, she received news of her husband's death from Oman.

"It was so unfair that she could not see him for one last time. We begged the airline to accommodate us on some other flight so that we could see him for one last time. But they did not do anything," Amrita's mother told a TV channel.

After Amrita's second flight was cancelled, she told reporters that the airline had informed her that nothing could be done.

She further added that her husband had expressed his desire to see her and their children, so they had booked tickets to visit him.

"They said their flights for the next four days were full, and they cannot do anything," she said.

Her husband was hospitalised following a massive heart attack. "I spoke to him over the phone. I told him I will try to reach there if I can," she said.

The airline has not yet commented on recent events.

Last week, Air India Express had to cancel numerous flights due to lacking cabin crew members. Some of them had reported sick in protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline, which is owned by the Tata Group.
