The AIADMK is hitting the road to crowdsource its vision for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Following a directive from party General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, a high-level manifesto committee will kick off a 14-day tour across the state starting January 7 to gather direct feedback from the public.

The committee — which includes heavyweights like ‘Natham’ R Viswanathan, C Ponnaiyan, and RB Udhayakumar — held its inaugural strategy meeting at the party headquarters on Saturday. Their mission is to move beyond the usual boardroom drafting and instead spend two weeks, until January 20, listening to people on the ground. The goal is to build a "people-centric" document that taps into the specific needs of different regions.

Palaniswami has instructed district secretaries to pull out all the stops for these visits. The focus isn't just on general grievances; the party wants deep dives into the expectations of farmers, weavers, government employees, and MSME owners. The panel would have covered major hubs such as Vellore, Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Chennai before the tour concludes in an effort to gain such insights.

Historically speaking, the AIADMK has used its manifesto extensively in an attempt to turn around the narrative during election seasons. It seems that with the commencement of this state-wide campaign, the party wants to send a message that its new list of policies will be determined by the electorate and not by the strategists.
