Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that people who died in the Kathua cloudburst will be given all possible help from the government.
A total of seven people were killed in the separate incidents in the twin villages of the Kathua district following an intense downpour on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, officials said.
Besides, five more people have been injured in the incidents, which caused infrastructural damage in the villages.
Shah said the Central government is closely following and monitoring the situation on the ground.
While assuring full support from the government, Shah said rescue operations are underway with assistance from the local administration and NDRF teams.
In his post on X, Shah wrote, “Spoke with the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the cloudburst in Kathua. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the local administration, and NDRF teams have also been rushed to the site.”
In another post on X, he wrote, “Assured every support from the Modi government. We stand firmly behind our sisters and brothers of J&K.”
